One of the best things about living in New Jersey is the fact that there is always something to do, especially in the summer! With the prices of gas being so high these days, most of us are probably modifying our summer vacation plans, so we thought it would be a good idea to create a list of affordable, budget-friendly ideas for vacation destinations and day and weekend trip ideas. Here are a few ideas of affordable New Jersey trip ideas.

  • If you’re thinking about heading to the coast, travel south to Atlantic City. Atlantic City is full of free things to do and see, such as the Chicken Bone Concert Series, which features free Jazz on the Beach Concerts; the Korean War Memorial; and The Water Show at the end of The Pier Shops. Atlantic City also has lots of things to do in the $20 or under price range.
  • The Adventure Aquarium in Camden is a great day trip option for families. Spend a day enjoying all the cool exhibits, including sharks, hippos, and free-flying birds. Best of all, kids under the age of two are FREE!
  • Another great idea for families is the Land of Make Believe Family Water & Amusement Park. Land of Make Believe is located in Hope and was designed specifically for parent participation with children. Your admission fee covers all rides, shows, and attractions, including Pirate’s Cove Water Park. Parking is free, and you can pack a picnic lunch to enjoy in the Family Picnic Grove.
  • Of course, we can’t forget to mention two very important landmarks very close to us – The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island! While there is no entrance fee to either landmark, you must purchase a ferry ticket to visit both islands. Be sure to visit the National Park Service website for very important information regarding visits to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
